If you follow my blog, you know I am trying to lose 40 pounds. I'm doing this for my own health and so I can be around as long as possible with my family. It is simple statistics that overweight people have higher instances of heart attacks and diseases.
I have drastically reduced my eating habits as I have cut out a lot of meat and eggs in order to cut down my intake of saturated fats and cholesterol. I also have greatly reduced my portions of food I am consuming. I am trying to focus on eating a lot of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Within the first couple of months, I lost ten pounds. I am now 25% closer to my goal. I feel great and don't miss the fatty foods I used to eat on a regular basis.
My problem now is that I have been hovering at the same weight for a little while now. I still seem to be losing weight, but it is going much slower now.
I think I just need to accept the fact that the first ten pounds are the easiest to lose. Most doctors recommend losing a pound a week so that still puts me at my goal of forty pounds lost within a year. While losing the first ten pounds quickly gave me some great momentum, I need to understand that this is a long term project that will require some long term motivation and discipline.
