I live a few blocks form the site of the world's largest brat festival. Each year, I enjoy going to Brat Fest to listen to music and eat brats.

As I am trying to lose weight and be healthier, I did some research and found out that each brat has 8 - 10 grams of saturated fat and over 700 mg of sodium.

In years past, I would sometimes have four or more brats per day. I did this because they are good, cheap, convenient, and all proceeds go to charity. I also enjoyed going to the condiment station to load up my brats with onions, kraout, and a wide range of sauces including mustards, italian cream dressings, chipolte, etc...

Well, I went to brat fest to watch music the first two days and I am proud to say I have not had any brats. My solution was to get boca brats instead. I have only had three boca brats in two days, but I have found them to be very good. They taste and feel like real brats, but have much less fat and sodium in them. I still get to load them up with onions, kraut, and mustard.

In years past, my weight would have spiked up a little bit during the annual Brat Fest. This year, my weight is continuing to go down even during Brat Fest!
