Maximize your "exercise" portion of your workout by doing things that really get your heart rate going (stair stepper) and then if you just want to spend more time watching tv, go for a long walk on the treadmill as a cool down.

I'm a big believer in working up a sweat and getting my heart rate going. Walking on a treadmill doesn't do this for me no matter how long I am on it.
