WOW. I have always preached about avoiding unnecessary, artificial chemicals in our food and beverage products. And aspartame has been at the top of my hit list ever since I found out that it was fully an artificial, chemical sweetener. But this website I found on one person's personal experiment with the substance has me 100% convinced that this sweetener should be avoided: http://myaspartameexperiment.com/
I'm sure my family and friends think that I worry too much, but there is a lot to worry about! If we want to live a long, healthy, and full life, we desperately need to get back to basics and avoid all these processed, genetically-modified, artificially enhanced foods and beverages. Eat more fresh foods -- vegetables, fruit, whole grains, nuts and seeds -- and live better!
very true, indeed. so that is why we all must make daily decisions about what to put into our bodies and what to avoid. we certainly can't rely on big business or even the FDA (!) to watch out for our health. i feel it is especially important to help our kids make good choices, or make those choices for them. they are the ones who could potentially live a lifetime consuming these chemicals, given that they are prevalent in convenience foods, which so many children are eating now due to today's busy lifestyles. they then pay the ultimate price with health complications and premature death.
thanks. I do try to avoid it but find myself drinking diet sodas at work to save calories. What's the scoop on splenda? Made from sugar so I have to believe it's safer than nutrasweet.
I agree 100%. Even processed natural substances, such as high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) should be avoided. Not only do they contribute to weight gain (the body may not "know" how to process these substances), but some, like HFCS, actually have been known to contain other contaminants like pesticides and mercury.
