I'm going to reduce my consumption of calories.

I don't mind exercising, but I sit in front of a computer all day.
A majority of my time is spent NOT burning calories.

Since I can't quit my job and get up from the computer,
I can't rely on exercise to reach my health goals.

The answer is to consume less calories.

Good point.

In a similar strategy, I try to gain more wealth by not spending as much money. Most people only focus on making more money, but then people are working all the time.

I like the idea of putting more focus on what we are eating instead of focusing on burning calories.

Hmm, I like the idea of not working as much.

I also like the idea of spending money.

This is the problem!

I have a friend who has lost 70 pounds just by changing his diet. He is pretty strict about it and it has really paid off. He not only eats smaller portions, but he also is very specific about what he allows himself to eat. He has really cut down on foods that are high in sugar. He also eats lots of vegetables and drinks lots of water.

Wow! I would like to lose a lot of weight by just changing my diet.
Thanks for the motivational example. It is nice to know it can be done. 70 pounds is a lot. My first goal is to lose 15 pounds before the end of the year.

I'm trying to follow his example, but quiting food is almost as hard as quitting cigarrettes! I keep getting better though. Instead of trying to do it all at once, I keep adding new rules to my life. I started by only allowing myself to eat oatmeal in the mornng made with soy milk. I also do a bunch of push-ups every morning.

Now my new rule is no eating at night. This is tough because I usually stay up late and work on the computer. I'm used to having some food and have fallen into the "fourth meal" trap. I'm determined to stop eating at night and I think one way I could do this is by going to bed earlier. I also heard that getting more sleeo before midnight can help people lose weight.

I also figured out that one reason I eat late at night is because sometimes I will have a couple of beers while I'm on the computer. This causes my stomach to feel a little sour and so I always like to eat something bready after having a few beers. So now my new rule will have to be no drinking or eating after dinner time. Again, I think the best way to accomplish this is by going to bed earlier, but my nights are the only solid time I get to spend on the computer working on my online businesses. Time to do some push-ups as I try to find a solution.
